ReplyDeleteI thought I'd point out for your readers that, while it's true that chocolate sweetened with agave is lower glycemic than chocolate sweetened with sugar, it's also important to note that agave is exceptionally high in fructose. The latest nutritional thinking is that the primary culprit in sugar is its fructose component -- see the famous "Sugar, the Bitter Truth" YouTube video by Dr Lustig. So calorie-for-calorie, agave is probably worse than sugar in terms of overall health.

ReplyDeleteI have a friend who really loves chocolate, but has intolerance to Cane and Beet sugars, so she basically can't have any chocolate. This is a great list!
ReplyDeleteEndangered species dark chocolate now uses cane sugar. They no longer use the beet sugar!
